Varnish
Learn precisely what Varnish is. Get to know more about web accelerators and their function.
Varnish is a web application accelerator platform, which caches content for quicker response times. It is occasionally referred to as an HTTP reverse proxy as well and it works between a web server and an Internet browser. When a website visitor opens a certain web page, its content is requested by the web browser, and then the server processes this browser request and returns the requested information. If Varnish is activated for a website, it will cache the pages at the first request and if the visitor accesses a cached page for a second time, the information will be delivered by the caching platform instead of the web server. The improved loading speed is a result of the much faster response speed that the Varnish platform offers compared to any server software. At the same time, this doesn’t mean that the site visitors will keep being served the same content again and again, as any modification on any of the pages is reflected in the content that the Varnish platform caches in its memory.
Varnish in Cloud Web Hosting
Varnish is available as an optional upgrade with all our cloud web hosting plans. You can add it to your web hosting account via the Hepsia Control Panel, which is available with all shared plans and you will get a pretty simple-to-use GUI, which will grant you full control over the data caching platform. Using one-click quick-access buttons, you can reboot or discontinue any of the instances, i.e. Varnish will no longer be activated for a specific website. You can also view a comprehensive log or erase the cache associated with any of the websites. When you add Varnish to your shared hosting plan, you will be able to choose the maximum amount of memory that will be available to you for content caching purposes and how many sites will use Varnish. You can always get more memory in increments of 32 megabytes and, for optimal performance, you can get a dedicated IP address for the websites that will use Varnish. This will allow you to take full advantage of your websites and to have plenty of happy visitors.
