RAM, or Random Access Memory, is a type of computer data storage, that permits the information to be read randomly without accessing the preceding bytes before that. This makes the RAM substantially faster than other sorts of storage devices including DVDs or HDDs where all of the data must be read in order to access specific information. If you have a shared hosting account, the exact amount of memory which your web apps can use may not be fixed and may regularly be determined by the free memory which is available on the physical web server. With a standalone server, however, there is always a minimum amount of physical memory that shall be readily available at all times and will not be assigned to other customers even when it isn't used. That is valid with our virtual and dedicated servers.
